In 1999 I was teaching jewellery making in the community of Behchoko (then Rae Edzo) in the Northwest Territories. As I watched the sun and moon rise and set against the silhouette of the tree line in the distance I was inspired to make a piece of jewellery that would reflect the cycle of our days and nights. I thought that a ring was the perfect way to capture this sentiment. As you turn the ring around on your finger day turns into night and night turns into day…

The narrow Treeline Ring was the first landscape ring I created. Since that time, others have been added and today there are Landscape Rings representing our country from coast to coast to coast.
